What Are The Bears Doing?
Friday, March 5, 2010 at 12:13PM
Will someone that is a lot smarter than me explain what the Bears are doing? There are many needs, but isn’t wide receiver and offensive line the most urgent? The one position we are stacked is tight end, and pretty solid at tailback with Forte and Bell.
So the Bears are in the hunt for Chester Taylor, sign Brandon Manumaleuna, and are reported to sign Julius Peppers.
Don’t get me wrong, I will take all three, but I hope they are also in the mix for at least 2 receivers and some line help! Last year’s offensive line handed out one way tickets to the quarterback.
Like I said, if you have a clue what the Bears are thinking, please let me know!

I must not be that smart either cause i was wondering the same thing as i cursed under my breath
It's an all-in move by the current regime in Chicago -- if they don't make the playoffs this year, expect to see a management housecleaning after the season. Perhaps the Bears are contemplating going for a restricted free agent WR, which might take a bit more time to set up (notice that no RFAs have signed anywhere yet compared with the early land rush on some of the UFAs).
We need a pass rusher. No double digit sackers in a long time. Julius Peppers fits the bill. Signing Manumaleuna paves the way to use Greg Olsen as trade bait for a top wideout like Brandon Marshall, Anquan Boldin, or the like. Chester Taylor is a proven running back in this league. Matt Forte can use all the help he can get back there. It'll take a ton of pressure off of him. I love what the Bears are doing. I really hope they get some pass protection as well, and since it is an uncapped year, the Bears can get whoever they want.
Our young receivers are good, they need the defense that we are used to my guess.
