Report: Purdue's Hummel Out For Season

The news looks grim for Purdue standout Robbie Hummel.  The Black and Gold Exponent is reporting that doctors believe Hummel tore his ACL.  The injury happened last night in a win at Minnesota.

Hummel is currently in Indianapolis getting an MRI to find out the exact damage to his knee.  If he does have an ACL tear his season would be over.

The 6-foot-8 Hummel is averaging 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Boilermakers – who are 24-3 overall and lead the Big Ten with a 12-3 record.  The Boilers are ranked third in the nation.

With Hummel out, I cannot see a way for them to make it to the Final Four in Indianapolis.  It’s such a horrible blow for Purdue.

Hummel is a junior so after extensive rehab, hopefully he will be good to go next year.
