Mater Dei's Mike Goebel Running for State Representative

Mater Dei football head coach Mike Goebel is officially running for office of Indiana State Representative. He called me tonight to confirm that he filed his papers. Coach was quick to point out that if he is fortunate to be elected that he will remain a teacher and football coach of the Wildcats. Mater Dei High School’s staff has given Goebel their blessing. There are 4 or 5 other teachers that have been State Reps.
Goebel told me this has always been an aspiration for him and that he really enjoys his time serving as a county council member.
As a member of the media I certainly never discuss politics EVER. However, Coach Goebel is one of my favorite human beings on earth. I wish him the best. There is no questioning Goebel’s success on whatever he sets his mind.

Good for him, I hope he wins. I don't know him, but he always seems like a class act.
