USAF MSGT Woodburn Thanks Me on Veteran's Day!
Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 1:31PM For all of us, some days are better than others. Sometimes you know when you are going to have a great an exciting day. Then there are the really special ones that you never expect like today for me...
I am in my new office at UE when in comes Chad and Michelle Woodburn.
Back in February when I worked at NEWS 25 I did a story on Chad. His wife Michelle sent me some really interesting pictures from Chad's 386th Fire Department Alie Al Salem. Chad is a Master Sergeant in the 122nd Fighter Wing in Indiana. Many of the 122nd are all huge Colts fans and were rooting for the Colts overseas. Click here for the two stories.
Woodburn is now back in Newburgh after another four month tour.
Chad and Michelle gave me the flag that was flown on Super Bowl Sunday aboard Crash 33 firetruck (known as The Beast). The flag still has sand on it from flying over the desert. Along with it is a certificate of recognition.
It really is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. It's pretty darn awesome. Since my office is pretty bare I am going to get it framed and put it in my new UE office.
Thanks again to Master Sergeant Chad Woodburn, his wife Michelle, and the 122nd Fighter Wing of the US Air Force and all the troops of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Also Happy Veterans Day to all of our troops both who have and are serving our country. Your bravery is unmatched!

That is really awesome. Nice story and very cool gesture by Chad!
Thanks Lance for the appreciation. Today is one of those special days where we all stop and think. Even as a veteran myself, I look upon the men and women who came before me and I am left in awe. What an amazing country we have that an all volunteer service is willing to put it all on the line for a flag made of three colors, 50 stars, 13 stripes and a whole hell alot of meaning.
I'll tell you what, buddy, that is just pretty damned cool. :-)
